NYC launches massive security operation for 25th 9/11 anniversary

New York City is preparing a “massive” security operation ahead of the 25th‑anniversary commemorations of the September 11, 2001 attacks, officials said Tuesday. Police, the National Guard, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security will deploy thousands of officers, canine units, bomb‑detection teams and aerial surveillance assets around the World Trade Center site and surrounding streets. The heightened presence is intended to protect a scheduled ceremony that will draw former U.S. presidents, senior government officials, foreign dignitaries and the families of victims to Ground Zero for a series of speeches, wreath‑laying and a moment of silence.
