Global head of football Edu left Nottingham Forest after just over a year in charge of the club’s football operations. The former Barcelona and Chelsea executive, who joined the City Ground in February 2023, stepped down on Friday following a brief tenure that saw the club navigate a challenging season of squad restructuring and managerial changes.

Edu’s appointment had been part of a broader strategy to revamp the club’s sporting structure, but the short duration of his stay has raised questions about the club’s long‑term vision. The club’s board confirmed that the decision was mutual and that they will begin a search for a new global head of football in the coming weeks. Nottingham Forest will continue to focus on stabilising the first team under the guidance of manager Jon Dahl Tomasson while the club works to secure a successor who can align with its ambitions on and off the pitch.
