Nigeria's Army Kills 300 Bandits in Zamfara

Nigerian soldiers have reportedly killed more than 300 members of kidnapping and cattle‑bandit gangs in the north‑western state of Zamfara during a two‑day operation in the Gummi district, a government official said on Thursday. The Zamfara Information Commissioner, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, announced that the troops’ campaign “led to the elimination of more than 300 terrorists,” citing the targeted assault on the gangs that have long terrorised communities in northern and central Nigeria.

The operation, which took place amid ongoing security challenges posed by groups that combine cattle rustling with jihadist activity, was part of a broader effort to curb the violence that has plagued the region. While the official statement highlighted the number of suspects neutralised, it did not provide details on the broader impact on local communities or the operational tactics employed.
