Nigeria anti-corruption chief says 40 agents dismissed for corruption

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) chief announced that more than five of the officials recently dismissed from their posts have already been charged in court. In a briefing held in Abuja, the commission’s chairman confirmed that the prosecutions are proceeding under existing anti‑corruption statutes and emphasized that the legal process is being pursued without delay.

The dismissed officials, who were removed following internal investigations into alleged financial misconduct, are now facing a series of criminal proceedings that include allegations of embezzlement and abuse of office. The EFCC stated that the ongoing cases demonstrate its commitment to holding public servants accountable and that further actions will be taken against any additional individuals found to have violated the law.
