Nepal Army installs temporary cable to aid Nuwakot flood survivors crossing Trishuli River

Flood survivors in Nuwakot district have been forced to cross the swollen Trishuli River on a makeshift cable system after heavy rains caused the river to rise dramatically. The temporary rope bridge, erected by local authorities and volunteers, enabled dozens of displaced residents to reach the opposite bank where emergency shelters have been set up. Military personnel from the Nepalese army arrived on the scene shortly after the floodwaters surged, coordinating with community members to secure the cable and assist people in traversing the hazardous current.

Soldiers and residents worked together to pull individuals across the river, using hand‑held pulleys and safety harnesses to prevent accidents. According to officials, the operation has so far rescued more than 150 flood‑affected families, providing them with food, water, and medical aid at nearby relief centers. Relief agencies continue to monitor river levels and are preparing additional evacuation routes as the region remains vulnerable to further flooding.
