NavigateAI launches AI copilots for construction workers with $25M funding
Eric Wu, the founder who previously built and led Opendoor before departing in 2022, has brought his latest venture, NavigateAI, out of stealth mode as of May. The startup is developing artificial‑intelligence copilots that deliver real‑time, hands‑free instructions to construction workers through smartphones and Meta’s AI‑enabled glasses, aiming to improve productivity and safety on job sites.
NavigateAI has secured $25 million in financing from investors including entrepreneur Elad Gil, Khosla Ventures, and home‑building giant Lennar. The capital will support the rollout of the AI guidance system as the construction industry grapples with a severe labor shortage, exemplified by data‑center projects that now require between 4,000 and 5,000 workers each. The funding positions NavigateAI to address the workforce gap by leveraging AI to augment the capabilities of the existing labor pool.
