NASA Systems Engineer Tom Percy Leads Human Landing System Integration

NASA is accelerating its Artemis program as part of a broader strategy to sustain long‑term exploration of the Moon and, eventually, Mars. The agency is increasing the cadence of Artemis missions, a move that hinges on a robust partnership with commercial launch providers. Central to this effort is Tom Percy, manager of systems engineering and integration for NASA’s Human Landing System (HLS) Program, who coordinates the technical integration of spacecraft and payloads with the companies selected to deliver the lunar landers.

Percy’s role involves ensuring that the HLS vehicles meet NASA’s stringent safety and performance standards while aligning with the agency’s schedule. He works closely with SpaceX, the primary contractor for the Artemis lander, as well as other potential providers, overseeing the integration of propulsion, avionics, and life‑support systems. By serving as the focal point for engineering oversight, Percy helps synchronize design, testing, and certification activities across the supply chain, thereby enabling NASA to meet its expanded launch cadence and maintain momentum toward sustained human presence on the Moon.
