MSF Warns of Rising Humanitarian Needs for Displaced African Migrants in South Africa

Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) has issued an urgent alert highlighting a surge in humanitarian needs as tens of thousands of African migrants are forced to flee their homes. The displacement, driven by a combination of armed conflict, political instability and climate‑related hardships, is concentrated in the Sahel, the Horn of Africa and parts of Central Africa, where overcrowded camps and informal settlements are rapidly expanding.

MSF reports that the influx is straining already limited health services, with acute shortages of medical supplies, clean water and sanitation facilities. The organization has deployed mobile clinics and emergency response teams to provide primary care, trauma treatment and disease prevention, but warns that funding gaps threaten the continuity of aid. The agency is calling on international donors and governments to increase support to meet the escalating demand for medical assistance, nutrition programs and protection services for the displaced populations.
