MSF urges Israel to free detained Palestinian health workers

An international humanitarian organization issued a formal statement on Tuesday condemning Israel’s recent actions toward health professionals operating in the occupied territories, describing the measures as “outrageous” and warning that “silence has become complicity.” The NGO, which monitors compliance with international medical standards, said that doctors, nurses and support staff have faced arrests, travel restrictions and the revocation of permits needed to provide care in hospitals and clinics across the region.

The organization cited multiple incidents over the past month in which medical personnel were detained while treating patients, and noted that the restrictions have disrupted the delivery of essential health services to civilians. It called on governments, United Nations agencies and civil‑society groups to publicly denounce the treatment and to press for the immediate restoration of unhindered access for health workers. The NGO emphasized that failure to respond, it argued, would amount to tacit approval of actions that jeopardize the right to health under international law.
