Moto Watch Ultra Debuts on Wear OS
Motorola has released its first premium smartwatch, the Moto Watch Ultra, which is available in a single size and two color options and runs Google’s Wear OS. The new model marks the company’s return to the smartwatch market with a focus on the high‑end segment, following the earlier Moto Watch that used a custom operating system.
The Ultra upgrades the earlier design by adopting Wear OS and powering the device with a Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 chip, giving it broader app support and tighter integration with Android phones. However, the watch does not include the outdoor‑oriented features that define competitors such as Samsung’s and Apple’s Ultra‑series models, limiting its appeal to users who prioritize advanced fitness or rugged capabilities.
With the Moto Watch Ultra, Motorola positions itself as a contender in the premium smartwatch space, offering a familiar Wear OS experience and a powerful processor while leaving certain niche features to rivals. The move signals the company’s intent to compete on software and performance rather than specialized hardware.
