Moroccan footballer buried after dying while trying to reach Ceuta

Moroccan footballer Faten Ben Omar El Azizi was laid to rest on Saturday after her death while attempting to reach the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. The 23‑year‑old, who played for a local women’s team in Tangier, disappeared on a night crossing the border from Morocco to the North African enclave, a route frequently used by migrants seeking entry into the European Union. Authorities confirmed that she was found deceased near the border fence, and her body was subsequently transferred to her hometown for burial.
