Monastery relief camp houses 500 flood survivors in Kathmandu

Around 500 people have taken refuge in a monastery that has been converted into a relief camp in the northern outskirts of Kathmandu, where families are still reeling from the loss of homes and loved ones after the catastrophic floods that swept across Nepal. The makeshift shelter, set up in the wake of the disaster, provides basic necessities such as food, water and temporary bedding, but many occupants remain in shock as they confront the aftermath of the inundation.

Rescue teams continue to scour the flood‑hit regions, searching for nearly 1,000 individuals reported missing, with operations scheduled to run through the night. FRANCE 24 correspondent Shahzaib Wahlah, reporting from the camp, said that authorities are coordinating with local volunteers and international aid agencies to expand the relief effort, while officials emphasize that the search and recovery mission will persist until all missing persons are accounted for.
