Microsoft to report Azure revenue quarterly after segment reorganization
Microsoft Corp. announced it will overhaul its financial reporting structure, consolidating its previous three‑segment model into two broader categories and beginning to disclose quarterly revenue for its Azure cloud platform. The shift, disclosed in a filing to investors, is intended to better reflect the growing influence of artificial‑intelligence technologies on the company’s operations and to provide clearer insight into the performance of its core businesses.
Under the new framework, Microsoft will report results for “Agents and Infra,” which aggregates its AI‑driven services and cloud infrastructure, and “Devices and Consumer,” which combines hardware, consumer software, and advertising revenues. The Devices and Consumer segment will now encompass search and advertising income from LinkedIn as well as search advertising revenues, expanding the scope of the category beyond traditional device sales. Azure’s quarterly revenue will be reported separately for the first time, offering a granular view of the cloud segment’s growth amid heightened competition and increasing AI‑related demand.
The restructuring simplifies the company’s financial narrative and aligns reporting with strategic priorities centered on AI and cloud services. Analysts and investors are expected to use the more detailed data to assess Microsoft’s performance in the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
