Meta launches Pocket, an AI gaming app
Meta has quietly introduced Pocket, an experimental AI application that allows users to create and share interactive mini‑games through text prompts. The app, launched in a limited beta, uses the company’s generative AI models to translate simple written descriptions into playable game experiences that can be embedded in social media posts or shared directly with friends.
According to Meta’s product team, Pocket is designed to lower the barrier to game creation, enabling non‑developers to produce engaging content without coding. Users type a prompt—such as “a platformer where the character collects stars”—and the system generates a playable prototype, complete with basic physics and scoring. The feature also supports collaborative editing, allowing multiple users to tweak and refine a game in real time before publishing it to the platform’s community feed.
While still in early testing, Pocket represents Meta’s broader push into generative AI tools for content creation. The company has not yet announced a public release date, but it plans to expand the app’s capabilities and integrate it with its existing social media ecosystem, potentially opening new avenues for user‑generated entertainment and interactive storytelling.
