To maintain contact, opposition groups increasingly rely on encrypted messaging applications, decentralized mesh networks, and satellite‑based services that operate independently of national infrastructure. Tools such as end‑to‑end encrypted chat apps, virtual private networks, and peer‑to‑peer radio frequencies enable participants to exchange information without exposing themselves to centralized monitoring. While these alternatives mitigate some risks, they also demand technical expertise and can be disrupted by sophisticated counter‑measures, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by activists striving to organize under repressive regimes.
