A 13‑year‑old boy from Thurmont, Maryland, is recovering after a rare attack by a rabid beaver while swimming at Cunningham Falls State Park. Dominick Cebula was submerged in the park’s popular swimming area on July 26 when the animal struck his chest underwater. He sustained severe injuries that required multiple surgeries and left him with lasting nerve damage.
