Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands airports suffer cyber‑attack affecting 8.7 million customers

Manchester Airports Group (MAG), the operator of Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports, said the recent cyber‑attack on its systems has not compromised passenger safety. The group confirmed that the breach, which affected the three hubs, involved unauthorized access to data linked to car‑park, lounge and fast‑track bookings as well as in‑airport Wi‑Fi sign‑ups.

MAG disclosed that the hackers obtained personal details for approximately 8.7 million customers, including email addresses, telephone numbers, vehicle registration numbers and postcodes. The company is working with law enforcement and cybersecurity specialists to investigate the incident and has implemented additional security measures while assuring travellers that airport operations and safety protocols remain fully functional.
