Lachy Groom backs Indian startup aiming to keep aircraft aloft for a year

Alteon, a startup founded by a 20‑year‑old entrepreneur, is engineering an autonomous aircraft designed to remain aloft for extended periods by harvesting wind energy. The company’s approach involves integrating lightweight turbine or sail‑based systems that convert ambient airflow into electrical power, enabling the aircraft to sustain flight for several months without conventional fuel.

The technology aims to address the growing demand for long‑duration, unmanned aerial platforms capable of persistent surveillance, communications, and environmental monitoring.
