Kosovo joins US‑led Gaza stabilisation force

A Balkan state has announced its intention to join a small group of nations that have pledged to contribute peacekeeping personnel to the Palestinian enclave of Gaza. The foreign ministry of Serbia confirmed that it will provide a contingent of troops to a United Nations‑mandated mission aimed at stabilising the territory in the aftermath of the recent armed conflict, marking the country's first commitment of this kind to the region.

Serbia’s decision follows similar pledges from Norway, Ireland, Spain, Sweden and Finland, all of which have expressed willingness to deploy forces under a UN framework that seeks to protect civilians, facilitate humanitarian aid and monitor cease‑fire arrangements. The Serbian delegation indicated that the size and composition of its contribution will be coordinated with the UN Department of Peace Operations and will be contingent on the establishment of a clear mandate and security conditions on the ground. By joining the short list of contributing countries, Serbia aims to support international efforts to restore order and assist in the reconstruction of Gaza, while reinforcing its broader diplomatic engagement with multilateral peace initiatives.
