The company said the approach allows for more efficient use of raw silicon and reduces the number of process steps needed to fabricate high‑density memory cells, potentially shortening lead times for both DRAM and NAND flash production.
According to Kepler’s spokesperson, the proprietary material—an advanced high‑k dielectric—provides superior charge retention and lower leakage than conventional substrates, enabling tighter packing of memory cells without compromising performance. The firm claims that early prototypes demonstrate a 15‑percent increase in storage density and a 10‑percent reduction in manufacturing cost compared to current industry standards.
