Jharkhand Protesters Demand Overhaul of State Exam System

Demonstrators in Ranchi have staged a protest demanding a comprehensive overhaul of Jharkhand’s examination system. The rally, which began early this morning outside the state assembly complex, was organized by a coalition of students, teachers and parent‑teacher associations who argue that current assessment practices are outdated, favour rote learning and fail to reflect students’ real abilities.

Participants called for the introduction of continuous and comprehensive evaluation, greater transparency in grading, and the adoption of technology‑enabled testing to reduce administrative bottlenecks. They also urged the state government to review the curriculum and teacher‑training programmes to align them with national standards. The protest was peaceful, and local police were deployed to maintain order. State officials have pledged to examine the demands and to convene a working group to propose reforms in the coming weeks.
