JetBlue Rebrands Economy Fare, Phasing Out Core Product
JetBlue announced that it will discontinue its “Core” fare class and replace it with a new economy product, effective June 1, 2024. The move is part of the airline’s effort to simplify its pricing structure and reduce the number of fare families that customers must navigate when booking a flight.
The Core fare, introduced in 2019, had been marketed as a low‑cost option that still included seat selection and checked‑bag allowances, but it was criticized for hidden fees and a confusing mix of add‑ons. Under the new “JetBlue Economy” product, passengers will receive a single, all‑inclusive price that covers seat selection, one free checked bag, and the standard in‑flight amenities. The airline said the change will streamline the booking process and make it easier for travelers to understand exactly what they are paying for.
JetBlue’s rebranding is expected to improve customer satisfaction and reduce administrative costs associated with managing multiple fare classes. The airline will update its website and reservation systems to reflect the new fare name and structure, and it will provide additional information to passengers through its customer service channels.
