Israeli Raids and Settler Attacks Intensify in West Bank

Israeli security forces carried out a series of coordinated raids in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, targeting several villages and refugee camps while settler groups launched attacks on nearby Palestinian properties. The operations, announced by the Israeli Defense Forces as “preventive measures against terrorism,” involved dozens of soldiers and police units in areas including Nablus, Jenin, and the Qalqilya governorate. Simultaneously, reports from local authorities documented incidents of settler violence in the Hebron region, where arson and vandalism were directed at homes and agricultural fields belonging to Palestinian families.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the raids resulted in the detention of 28 individuals, among them several minors, and caused injuries to 12 Palestinians, three of whom required hospitalization. Israeli officials said the arrests were linked to suspected involvement in recent attacks on Israeli civilians. In the Hebron area, the Israeli settler organization “Hilltop Youth” was identified by Israeli police as the group behind the property damage, though no arrests have been announced. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) recorded a rise in incidents of settler-related violence, noting a 15 % increase compared with the same period last year.

The escalation has prompted renewed calls from the European Union and the United Nations for restraint and a return to dialogue, warning that the growing frequency of raids and settler attacks could further destabilize an already volatile environment. Both Israeli and Palestinian leaders have urged their respective security services to avoid actions that might inflame tensions, while humanitarian agencies continue to monitor the situation and provide assistance to affected civilians.
