Israeli army destroys three schools in southern Lebanon, total of 20 schools destroyed

At least 20 schools in southern Lebanon have been completely destroyed, while an additional 100 have suffered damage, according to officials from the Lebanese Ministry of Education. The affected facilities are spread across the border districts of Tyre, Nabatieh and Marjayoun, where intensified cross‑border hostilities have disrupted civilian infrastructure over the past weeks.

The Ministry, working with United Nations agencies, has launched an emergency assessment to determine the extent of repairs needed and to identify temporary sites for displaced students. International donors have been urged to fund reconstruction, as the loss of educational spaces threatens the schooling of thousands of children already facing displacement. Authorities plan to prioritize the reopening of damaged schools and to provide alternative learning arrangements until permanent structures can be rebuilt.
