Israel and Morocco to Open Embassies After New York Talks

Israel and Morocco announced on Wednesday that they will establish resident embassies in each other’s capitals, following bilateral talks involving their foreign ministers and the United States ambassador to the United Nations in New York. The agreement marks the first step toward full diplomatic representation between the two nations, building on the recent diplomatic engagement that has intensified ties across the region.

The move comes more than three years after Israel and Morocco formalised relations under the U.S.-mediated Abraham Accords of 2020, which normalised Israel’s ties with several Arab states. By upgrading their relationship to include embassies, both governments aim to deepen political, economic and cultural cooperation, while the United States continues to play a facilitative role in the expanding network of Arab‑Israeli diplomatic relations.
