Iranian official says IAEA resolution imposed by US and Israel

Tehran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, told Al Jazeera on Monday that a recent International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolution concerning Iran’s nuclear safeguards was “imposed” by the United States and Israel. The resolution, adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors, calls for a comprehensive review of Iran’s compliance with its safeguards agreement and urges the agency to consider additional verification measures, a step that Iran says undermines its sovereign right to peaceful nuclear development.

Bagheri emphasized that the move reflects external pressure rather than an objective assessment of Iran’s nuclear program, noting that the United States and Israel have repeatedly sought to curtail Tehran’s nuclear activities.
