Iran's IRGC attacks US-linked sites in Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman after US strike

Tehran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Tuesday that it had launched attacks against facilities it described as “linked to the United States military” in Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. The statement came in response to what the IRGC called the “latest U.S. bombardment” of Iranian targets, a reference to a series of airstrikes the United States carried out earlier this week in retaliation for attacks on American interests in the region. According to the IRGC, the strikes were coordinated by its Quds Force and were intended to neutralize surveillance and communication sites used by U.S. forces operating from the three Gulf states.

The IRGC did not provide specific details on the weapons employed or the extent of damage inflicted, but it claimed the operations were “precise” and caused “significant disruption” to U.S. military capabilities in the area. U.S. officials have not yet confirmed or denied the attacks, and regional governments in Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman have called for investigations while urging calm. The exchange of fire marks a further escalation in the already strained U.S.-Iran relationship, raising concerns among international observers about the potential for broader conflict in the Gulf.
