Iran President Says Contact with Supreme Leader Is Very Difficult

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced on Wednesday that communication with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had become “very difficult” after the leader was reportedly wounded in a U.S.–Israeli strike that killed his father. The strike, which targeted a convoy in the eastern province of Khorasan, has drawn international attention to the security situation in the region.

Pezeshkian, speaking to state media, described the difficulties in reaching Khamenei as a consequence of the leader’s recent injury and the ensuing medical care. He also addressed growing speculation about Khamenei’s absence from public view, emphasizing that the Supreme Leader remains in good health and that the government is working to restore normalcy in leadership communications.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions following the strike, as Iranian officials continue to condemn the attack and seek accountability.
