Iran faces medicine shortages and soaring drug prices

Tehran – Prices for basic medicines such as paracetamol and insulin have surged sharply in Iran, coinciding with a pronounced shortage of less common pharmaceuticals. The rapid increase in drug costs is affecting a health system where more than 70 % of expenses are paid out of pocket, placing a heavy financial burden on patients who must purchase their own treatments.
