International consensus provides guidance on rheumatoid arthritis lung disease detection and treatment

A new international expert consensus statement, released in *The Lancet Respiratory Medicine*, offers clinicians a comprehensive framework for identifying, monitoring and treating a severe lung complication that frequently accompanies rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The guideline, developed by a multidisciplinary panel of rheumatologists, pulmonologists and radiologists from 15 countries, focuses on rheumatoid arthritis‑associated interstitial lung disease (RA‑ILD), a condition that can progress rapidly and is responsible for a significant proportion of RA‑related morbidity and mortality.
