India, Uzbekistan Strengthen Ties, Target $5bn Trade and Long-Term Uranium Supply

The governments of the two nations announced an expansion of their bilateral partnership, adding critical minerals, defence, digital payments and transport to the list of sectors in which they will cooperate. The agreement builds on earlier economic and security ties and aims to diversify supply chains, enhance interoperability of military equipment, streamline cross‑border financial transactions and improve connectivity of freight and passenger services.

To ensure the new initiatives are implemented effectively, a foreign‑minister‑level mechanism has been established, while both sides also pledged to broaden educational exchanges and strengthen regional links. The institutional framework is expected to coordinate policy, monitor progress and resolve issues, signaling a deeper, more structured collaboration between the two countries.
