IfM Bonn report calls for regional tech transfer networks to boost university‑business research collaborations

A study released by the Institute for Management (IfM) in Bonn highlights that effective research collaboration between universities and businesses hinges on the development of regional technology‑transfer networks. The analysis argues that such networks must bring together university technology‑transfer offices, research institutes, chambers of commerce and industry, trade associations, chambers of crafts, business‑related networks and financial intermediaries, each playing an active role in the ecosystem.

By integrating these diverse actors, the proposed framework would enable the pooling of networking opportunities and facilitate the identification and dissemination of best‑practice examples. The IfM Bonn researchers contend that coordinated regional structures can streamline knowledge exchange, accelerate innovation pipelines, and ultimately strengthen the link between academic research and commercial application.
