IDF Uses 700 Tonnes of Explosives to Destroy Hezbollah Tunnels in Southern Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had deployed 700 tonnes of explosives to demolish sections of a Hezbollah tunnel network in southern Lebanon. The operation targeted underground passages that the militant group has reportedly used for smuggling weapons and for staging attacks on Israeli positions along the border.

According to the IDF statement, the demolition was carried out in a coordinated effort to neutralize the tunnels’ strategic value. Hezbollah has long maintained a network of tunnels beneath the Lebanese border, which it claims are used for defensive purposes, while Israel views them as a threat to its security. The use of such a large volume of explosives underscores the scale of the infrastructure the IDF sought to destroy.

The IDF did not report any casualties or injuries resulting from the blast. The demolition is part of an ongoing series of operations aimed at limiting Hezbollah’s capacity to launch cross‑border attacks, amid continued tensions along the Israel‑Lebanon frontier.
