Herbivorous dinosaur with cricket‑pitch‑long neck discovered in Thailand

A new herbivorous dinosaur species, *Uragasaurus kalasinensis*, has been identified by paleontologists and is estimated to have roamed the Earth roughly 150 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic period. The fossil remains, uncovered in sedimentary rock layers, display characteristic features of a plant‑eating sauropod, including elongated neck vertebrae and robust limb bones, leading researchers to assign the specimen to a previously unknown genus and species.

The discovery adds to the growing inventory of Jurassic megafauna and provides insight into the diversity of herbivorous dinosaurs that inhabited the region now known as Kalasin Province. Ongoing analysis of the skeletal material aims to clarify the animal’s size, diet and evolutionary relationships within the broader sauropod clade, contributing to a more detailed picture of prehistoric ecosystems from that era.
