Harvey Valuation Climbs to $15.5B After Doubling from $11B
Legal AI startup Luminance, a recent darling of venture capital, has seen its valuation climb from $350 million to $680 million in just nine months. The company, which uses machine learning to automate contract review and due‑diligence workflows, announced the latest valuation after securing a $120 million Series C round led by Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz. The round brought the company’s total funding to $300 million and positioned it among the top legal‑tech firms in terms of capital raised.
The surge reflects a broader shift in the legal sector toward AI‑driven efficiency tools. Luminance’s platform, which can ingest and analyze tens of thousands of documents in minutes, has been adopted by several Fortune 500 firms and law‑practice groups. The company’s co‑founders, former attorneys and data scientists, cited growing demand for rapid, accurate contract analysis as a key driver of the valuation jump. Analysts note that the firm’s customer base now includes more than 200 law‑practice groups and 50 corporate legal departments, a growth that has helped justify the steep increase in market value.
Looking ahead, Luminance plans to expand its product line to cover litigation analytics and regulatory compliance, while exploring international markets in Europe and Asia. The firm’s leadership has indicated that the new capital will fund both product development and geographic expansion, aiming to solidify its position as a leading provider of AI‑powered legal technology.
