Gus the T. rex skeleton displayed at Sotheby's in New York

A nearly complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton, known as “Gus,” was displayed Wednesday at Sotheby’s auction house in New York in preparation for its upcoming sale later this month. The specimen, estimated to be 70 million years old, was recovered in 1990 from the Hell Creek Formation in Montana and has been hailed by paleontologists as one of the most intact T. rex skeletons ever found.

The exhibit, part of Sotheby’s “Paleontological Treasures” series, highlighted the skeleton’s well-preserved skull, vertebrae, and limb bones, offering collectors and museums a rare opportunity to view the fossil up close.
