Google Buys 400 MW Geothermal Power from Fervo, Expands to 1 GW
Fervo Energy has announced a new partnership with Google that could see the company develop up to 1 gigawatt of geothermal power in Utah, enough to supply a very large artificial‑intelligence data center. The deal builds on Fervo’s existing geothermal projects in the state, which have already delivered renewable electricity to the grid and to a number of commercial customers. The proposed expansion would add a significant amount of clean energy capacity, positioning the region as a hub for high‑performance computing.
Under the agreement, Fervo will leverage its proprietary technology to tap deep geothermal resources near the planned data‑center site, while Google will provide the capital and expertise to build the necessary infrastructure.
