Google AI Mode now links to select apps

Google has announced an expansion of its AI Mode, extending the feature beyond simple Q&A to help users complete a wider range of tasks across its suite of productivity apps. The update, rolled out in the latest version of the Google Workspace suite, allows the AI to draft emails, generate meeting agendas, summarize documents, and even suggest edits to spreadsheets and presentations. Users can activate the mode from the sidebar in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Calendar, where the AI offers contextual suggestions based on the content and user intent.

According to Google, the new AI capabilities are powered by the same language model that underpins the company’s earlier AI experiments, but with additional safeguards and privacy controls. The company emphasized that all AI-generated content remains under user control, and that the system does not retain or store personal data beyond the session. Early adopters report that the feature can streamline routine workflows, such as drafting follow‑up emails after meetings or quickly populating data tables from raw notes.

Google plans to refine the AI’s performance through ongoing user feedback and will introduce new integrations in the coming months. The company’s goal is to make the AI a more seamless part of everyday work, reducing the time spent on repetitive tasks while maintaining the security and privacy standards expected by its enterprise customers.
