Glacier ice collapse triggers deadly floods in Nepal and Tibet

A massive ice fragment that broke away from a glacier high in the Himalayas and plunged thousands of metres into a river below is believed to have triggered the devastating floods that swept through Nepal and Tibet. The sudden surge of water and debris caused widespread destruction, killing at least 180 people and leaving more than 1,300 individuals unaccounted for, including foreign nationals and pilgrims traveling in the region.

Rescue teams from both countries have been deployed to locate survivors and provide assistance to the hundreds of residents displaced by the disaster. Authorities continue to search for missing persons while coordinating relief efforts for affected communities across the mountainous area, emphasizing the urgent need for humanitarian aid and infrastructure repair in the aftermath of the flood.
