GitHub Insights Tool Devthropology Offers Detailed Codebase Analysis

**New Tool Analyzes GitHub Data to Provide Deeper Insights into Codebases**

A new project called Devthropology has been launched, offering a unique perspective on GitHub data. Built on top of GitHub pull request data, Devthropology aims to provide faster performance, more detail, and a focus on how work moves through a codebase. The tool's main entity is a contributor, which can be viewed from two sides: authoring pull requests and reviewing or giving feedback to others. This allows users to see repository-wide statistics, user interactions, contribution trends, file health, and collaboration patterns.

The tool offers a range of features, including a homepage that provides a high-level summary of the repository, a file explorer that builds a graph of files to track renames and moves, and a trends page that showcases the velocity of contributions and the impact of AI on shipping code. The relationships page displays a graph of interactions between contributors, weighted by PR activity, while the contributors page allows users to search for contributors and view their lifetime metrics. Additionally, the author/reviewer reports page provides a handful of metrics showing the performance of a contributor from both sides of a PR.

Devthropology has been built out of curiosity and a desire to see different insights into codebases, with the goal of providing an improved GitHub Insights page. The project has been tested on a few demo repositories, which were selected for their patterns of smaller contributor sets and more activity per contributor.
