Gironde Wildfire in France Now Contained

A wildfire in the Gironde department of France has been brought under control, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced on Tuesday. The blaze, which has been raging for nine days, has consumed roughly 42,000 hectares of land, but the flames are no longer spreading.

Firefighters from the regional fire service, supported by the French army and local authorities, have worked around the clock to contain the inferno. The interior ministry confirmed that all major fire fronts have been secured and that the risk of further spread has been eliminated.
