Gil Durán Banned from X After Criticizing Silicon Valley Tech

Durán, who had not violated any of X’s published rules, argued that the ban reflected Musk’s contradictory stance on free speech. The suspension followed a prior tweet in which Durán revealed the cover of his new book, *The Nerd Reich: Silicon Valley Fascism and the War on Democracy*.

Durán’s book argues that the billionaire owners of major tech firms—including Musk, Peter Thiel and their peers—have consolidated economic and political power, effectively abandoning democratic norms and shaping global policy to serve their own visions. He contends that these leaders are steering the planet toward “bizarre, apocalyptic” outcomes.
