Germany asks ICJ to dismiss Nicaragua's challenge over arms exports to Israel

Germany has formally requested that the International Court of Justice dismiss a pending case concerning its arms exports to Israel, arguing that the tribunal lacks jurisdiction to hear the matter. The German government submitted the request to the court, contending that the dispute falls outside the scope of the ICJ’s authority and should therefore be resolved through other legal channels.

In its submission, Germany emphasized that all weapons shipments to Israel are fully documented and publicly disclosed, and that the export licensing process incorporates checks that are more stringent than those applied by many other exporting nations. The government maintains that these safeguards demonstrate compliance with both national and international regulations, and it will continue to defend its export policies as the court reviews the jurisdictional challenge.
