German prosecutors charge Ukrainian citizen in Nord Stream explosion case
Kyiv has officially denied any participation in the investigation that German prosecutors opened last week into alleged illicit activities linked to Ukrainian nationals. In a statement released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials emphasized that the government had no knowledge of, nor involvement in, the actions under scrutiny, and called for the case to be resolved on factual evidence rather than political assumptions.
German authorities have indicated that the probe could affect bilateral relations, given the close economic and security cooperation between the two countries. While diplomatic channels remain open, both sides have expressed a desire to avoid escalation, and the outcome of the investigation is expected to shape future engagement on issues ranging from energy supply to defense collaboration.
