GB Snowsport Loses UK Sport Funding

UK Sport has announced a restructuring of its funding model for winter sports, confirming that it will no longer direct investment in skiing and snowboarding through GB Snowsport, the national governing body for the disciplines. The decision ends a long-standing arrangement under which the national funding agency channeled financial support, high-performance resources, and development programs through a single administrative organization.

Under the revised framework, UK Sport will allocate funding directly to individual sport programs and performance pathways, a move designed to streamline decision-making and align resources more closely with athlete development outcomes. The shift follows an internal review of winter sports governance, with officials citing the need for greater operational flexibility and targeted investment. GB Snowsport will retain responsibility for domestic competitions, talent identification, and grassroots participation, while Olympic and Paralympic preparation will be managed through separate, discipline-specific structures.
