FAA launches $875 million AI program to aid air traffic controllers

A new artificial‑intelligence software platform, dubbed SkyGuide, is slated for deployment across United States air traffic control facilities later this year. Developed by AeroTech Solutions in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration, the system integrates real‑time flight data, weather forecasts and runway capacity metrics to generate predictive routing recommendations for controllers. Early field trials at three major hub airports demonstrated a 12 percent reduction in average aircraft holding time and a measurable decline in controller workload during peak traffic periods.

The rollout follows a broader industry push to modernize the nation’s air traffic management infrastructure amid rising flight volumes and tighter scheduling demands.
