EU to increase investment in Greenland's minerals, satellites and renewable energy

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is set to announce a new package of EU funding for Greenland on Monday, covering projects in critical minerals, satellite communications and renewable‑energy infrastructure. The announcement will be made during a two‑day visit that underscores the EU’s intent to deepen economic ties with the autonomous Danish territory and to bolster its role in the Arctic region.

The initiative arrives as the United States, under President Donald Trump, intensifies efforts to secure American influence over Arctic resources and navigation routes.
