Eastern Libya Military Intelligence Chief Killed in Car Bomb Attack

Prime Minister Abdul‑Kader Dajani of the eastern Libyan administration in Tobruk issued a statement today condemning the killing of Major‑General Fawzi al‑Mansouri, a senior officer in the eastern army. The prime minister called the act “unacceptable and a grave violation of the rules of armed conflict,” and urged all parties to respect the sanctity of military personnel. Al‑Mansouri, who had served in the eastern forces since the 2014 civil war, was reportedly killed in an ambush near the town of Ajdabiya on 12 August.

The eastern government said the attack was carried out by unidentified armed elements and that an immediate investigation has been launched. Security officials in Tobruk confirmed that al‑Mansouri was on a routine patrol when he was struck by a roadside bomb, according to the preliminary report.
