Dutch central bank transfers billions of gold to London amid geopolitical unrest

The De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) announced that it will relocate a portion of its gold holdings from vaults in the United States and Canada, citing “increasing geopolitical unrest” as the primary motive. The move involves transferring several tonnes of gold that have been stored abroad for decades, although the bank did not disclose the exact quantity or the destination of the relocated reserves.

DNB said the decision reflects a broader reassessment of the security and accessibility of its sovereign assets amid heightened tensions in global politics. By diversifying the geographic distribution of its gold, the central bank aims to mitigate potential risks associated with transport routes, regulatory changes, or regional instability.
