Duke of York's Theatre to be Renamed

A theatre in London’s West End has been officially renamed the Stoppard Theatre in honor of the late Nobel Prize-winning playwright Sir Tom Stoppard, marking the first time a major London stage has been dedicated to a living playwright. The renaming of the Aldwych Theatre, announced in 2023 and finalized in October 2023, was led by the Society of London Theatre and the theatre’s owner, Gerald Ronson, as a tribute to Stoppard’s enduring influence on British and global theatre.
